BOONE, Iowa—Ronnie E. Phipps, 81, of Boone, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at his home.

A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 12, 2024, in the Oakwood Cemetery, Moingona.

Ronnie was born January 27, 1943, in Texas, the son of Ted and Hazel (Terry) Phipps. He spent all of his life in the Boone area.

Ronnie was united in marriage to Bessie Barger on May 8, 1973, at the Missionary Alliance Church in Boone. He worked at Iowa State University, until he retired at the age of 63. A short time later, Ronnie was asked to return to work at Iowa State University, which he did for an additional seven years.

Ronnie followed racing, watching anytime type of sports, westerns, reading, and most of all he could never get enough Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Doug Phipps and Maurice Phipps.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bessie Phipps, and several nieces and nephews.
