BOONE, Iowa—Roger Reynoldson, 91, of Boone, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at his home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Open Bible Church, 1224 Hancock Drive, Boone. Following the funeral, cremation will take place. Memorials may be made to the Open Bible Church.
Roger was born in rural Boone County on December 27, 1932, the son of Robert and Ruby (Phipps) Reynoldson. He attended school through the eighth grade and then began working.
Roger was a natural born lover of horses and began his rodeo career as a teenager. He was a steer wrestler and participated in the wild horse races. Roger also loved to break horses for riding and train them to be driven. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged in 1955.
Roger was united in marriage to Betty Stoneburner on March 30, 1963, at the United Methodist Church in Boone. To this union two children were born, Rodney and Kayla.
Roger worked for the railroad on the Fort Dodge – Des Moines Line. He later worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.
Roger was an active member of the Open Bible Church for 50 + years. At the age of 40 he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior; he was a passionate believer who was not ashamed to share his faith or to pray with anyone about anything. For years, he got up in the middle of the night to pray and read his Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruby Reynoldson; grandson, Jordan Hibbs; five sisters, Lois Musgrave, Marjorie Holbrook, Kathy Nordstrom, Helen Mattson, and Leanne Lewiston.
Roger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Reynoldson; son, Rodney (Susan) Reynoldson; daughter, Kayla Hibbs; four grandchildren, Shelby Hibbs, Stephanie (Josh) Logan, Zachary Reynoldson and Ariel Reynoldson; three great-grandchildren, David, Elander and Addelynn Logan; two brothers, Ronnie (Dottie) Reynoldson and Denny (Janice) Reynoldson; two sisters, Carolyn Webb and Nancy (Michael) McInerney; and many nieces and nephews.
