Emergency Management Announces Cooling Centers in Boone County

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Emergency Management Director Chris Hayes has announced the establishment of Cooling Centers in Boone County to assist residents that may need a break from the heat in the next couple of days.

In anticipation of high temperatures Monday June 24 th through Tuesday June 25th in Boone County, Iowa the following areas will be designated as Cooling Centers:

City of Boone:
Boone County Courthouse First Floor will be available from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Erickson Public Library will be available from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
The Boone County Hospital Atrium will be available 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Salvation Army will be open from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

City of Madrid:
Madrid City Hall will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
-Speak with the City Clerk to have the Community Room Opened from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

City of Ogden:
Ogden City Hall will be open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Leonard A. Good Community Library will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM

Cooling Centers are facilities where persons can temporarily go during periods of extreme heat. Few to no services are provided beyond what is normally available in that building. If you are experiencing a heat related emergency please contact 911.
