BOONE, Iowa—Craig A. Ginther, Sr., 64, of Boone, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Cremation has taken place and services are pending.
Craig was born June 3, 1960, in Des Moines, the son of Harold D., Sr. and Martha J. (Elwood) Ginther. He graduated from Bondurant High School.
Craig was united in marriage to Jill Smith on June 13, 1998, in Boone. They celebrated their 25th Anniversary last year, with an Alaskan Cruise, that Craig planned all by himself.
Craig had worked at 3M in Ames for a number of years and retired from there in May 2023. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, shooting pool in his younger years, and landscaping his yards. Craig was an avid Hawkeyes, Cubs, and Packers fan and fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending a playoff game with his son at Lambeau.
Craig was known for the fudge, root beer cookies and lemon cookies that he would bake and give away. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his two best four legged companions, Jack and Roscoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis Olson and companion, Roscoe.
Craig is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jill Ginther; four children, Craig A. Ginther, Jr., Kimberly Ginther, Stefanie (Brent) Lovin and Sean (Megan Cline) Foster; four grandchildren, Ramsey Ginther, Kyra Wang, Hailey Wang, and Madi Lovin; four legged companion, Jack; brother, Harold “Butch” (Sue) Ginther, Jr.; two sisters, Lou Ellen Olson and Barbara (Don) Schultz; and sister-in-law, Jacque Smith.
