Boone Little League’s Intermediate All Stars faced off in a Central Region Tournament game Wednesday afternoon. The game turned out to be an instant classic.
Chase Wulf took the hill for Boone and exchanged scoreless frames until the 5th. Boone catcher Macon Robinson’s 2 out RBI double would put Boone up 1-0.
Wulf’s gem would continue into the bottom of the 7th. With 2 out Wulf would get the final batter to pop up, stranding the tying and winning runs on 2nd & 3rd. Wulf’s complete game shutout kept Boone’s World Series hopes alive.
Bonne Little League’s Intermediate All Stars followed up a 1-0 afternoon win with a 20-14 victory over Michigan in the night cap. With the victory on Wednesday night Boone is 2 wins away from a berth in the Little League World Series.
Boone fell behind Michigan 4-0 early but fought back to claim the win. Boone catcher Macon Robinson led the offence with 5 RBI’s on a pair of doubles and a 3 run homer. Henry Wright picked up the win for Boone pitching 5 strong innings in relief.
Boone now moves on to the Central Region Semi-Final for an all Iowa showdown against Iowa (Sergeant Bluff). Semi-Final play starts at 2:30, all Central Region Tournament Games are held at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex in Ankney.
The winner of the Iowa (Boone) vs Iowa (Sergeant Bluff) semi-final will face off against Indiana in the championship game at 6:30 with a trip to the Little League World Series on the line.
