The Boone volleyball team secured a victory in its home opener, beating Des Moines East Thursday, Sept. 5, in a non-conference match.  

The Toreadors swept the Scarlets, 25-13, 25-17, 25-11. Boone improved its overall record to 2-7. 

Junior Jenna Johnson jumpstarted the Toreador offense, leading the team with 3 kills and 8 assists.  

Senior Addie Tungesvik had an outstanding night serving. She went 29-31 for the night with 6 aces. During the third game, she scored13 straight points. 

In addition, Johnson was 1 of 3 Toreadors land all of her serves, going 12-12 for the evening. Junior Tria Hoyle and senior Danielle Eshelman were also perfect at the service line, both going 6-6. 

Tungesvik led the Boone defense with 17 digs. 

The Toreadors next host Raccoon River Conference opponent Ballard Tuesday, Sept. 10.
