The Madrid volleyball team received its first victory of the season when it beat Cedar Valley Christian, 21-17, 17-21, 17-15, Thursday, Sept. 12 in Cedar Rapids.
That evening, Madrid also lost to West Central, 11-21, 17-21. Madrid improved to 1-5.
For the Tiger offense, Junior Samantha Springer dished out 9 assists and sophomore Iyla Fine nailed 3 kills. Springer served 15 for 17 with 6 aces while freshman Savannah Bradley was 8 for 9 at the service line with 2 aces.
Sophomore Paige Richards had 19 digs for the defense, and sophomore Jaela Hansen recorded 2 blocks.
Madrid hosts a quadrangular meet tonight and will play Collins-Maxwell (0-6-1), Glidden-Ralston (3-1) and Pleasantville (9-8).
