The Tiger cross country teams fared well at the Ballard Invitational in Huxley on Monday, Sept. 16.
The Madrid girls finished third while the Madrid boys finished sixth in Class B. The girls are ranked No. 2 in Class 1A this week.
Madrid had three girls finish in the top 10, which made them medalists.
Junior Katelyn Brandhorst finished in 3rd place in 20:11.9, while sophomore Madelyn Grothus finished in 4th place in 20:18.7. Sophomore Hannah Brandhorst placed 7th in 21:03.8.
Others earning points for the Tigers were sophomore Adelyn White, who finished 28th in 23:58, sophomore Ari Mundy, who placed 46th in 27:36.8 and freshman Ashlyn Burkhart, who finished 51st in 28:14.5.
Senior Blake Renze led the boys with a 13th place finish in 18:42.7, which made him a medalist.
Sophomore Caleb Berberich finished 26th in 19:46.1, senior Brody Buck ended 33rd in 20:03.8, junior Cavin Pehl placed 36th in 20:07.7.
The remaining scorers for Madrid were senior Tate Lawson in 50th place in 21:38.9, freshman Kris White in 22:45.5 and senior Matai Peasley in 63rd place in 24:07.6.
Other teams competing in Class B were Des Moines Christian, Van Meter, Pella Christian, Iowa Falls-Alden/Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock, Roland- Story, Nevada, Woodward-Granger, Eagle Grove and Nodaway Valley.
The Des Moines Christian boys and girls both placed first at the meet.
The Tigers run again this week when they travel to Panorama on Thursday, Sept. 19.
