Sophomore Emma Thomas led the charge and finished in 5th place in 21:40.85 at the Humboldt cross country meet on Monday, Sept. 23.
The Boone girls placed 4th out of 11 teams and scored 126 points. Fort Dodge St. Edmond won the meet with 61 points.
The next finishers for the Toreadors were freshman Morgan Chesnut in 23rd place in 23.57.43 and freshman Lynneah Pickering in 27th place in 24:24.32.
Other runners scoring points were sophomore Bry Morgan in 34th place in 25:04.10, senior Emma Price in 60th place in 26:48.55, and sophomore Poppy Malone 63rd place in 27:22.86.
Girls’ teams at the Humboldt meet included Fort Dodge St. Edmond, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden/Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock, Algona, West Hancock-Ventura, West Bend-Mallard, Newell-Fonda, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Emmetsburg and Eagle Grove.
The Boone boys finished in the middle of the pack at Humboldt and placed 6th of 11 teams with 168 points. Lake Mills won the boys race with 27 points.
For the Toreadors, junior Dorian Myers finished 11th in 18:55.92, junior Wyatt Johnson was 38th in 20:57.65, and senior Kyan Lehman finished 39th in 20:58.59
Others scoring points were Sophomore Calvin Cook in 42nd in 21:02.02 and sophomore Kam Lehman in 59th in 21:53.50.
Junior Simon Enabnit ended 63rd in 22:00.95 and Sophomore Sam Chesnut finished 64th in 22:03.77
Teams competing at the boys meet were Lake Mills, Algona, Fort Dodge St. Edmond, Manson-Northwest Webster, Humboldt, Eagle Grove, Estherville Lincoln Central, Iowa Falls-Alden-Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock, Newell-Fonda and Pocahontas Area.
The Toreador cross country teams will compete close to home next week on Tuesday, Oct. 1, as Ogden hosts a meet at the Don Williams Golf Course.
