Pleasantville too much for Madrid volleyball

Pleasantville proved to be too much for the Madrid volleyball team as the Tigers lost to the Trojans, 25-8, 25-9, 25-12, in West Central Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 24. 

The offense was led by junior Samantha Springer and freshman Rylin Velky who had 4 assists each. 

Senior Jillian Olmstead pounded 3 kills, and sophomore Iyla Fine added 2 kills. 

Velky served 100 percent, going 7 for 7 for the night. 

The defense was balanced with sophomore Paige Richards, freshman Savannah Bradley and fine recording 26 digs each. 

Sophomore Lillie Bentson ended 2 blocks, and junior Lauren Dvorak had 2 blocks. 

The loss dropped Madrid to 1-11 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. The Pleasantville improved to 14-8 and 2-2 in the conference. 

The Tigers travel to Coon Rapids-Bayard High School to face West Harrison (6-13) and No. 13 Coon Rapids-Bayard (15-3) tonight, Thursday, Sept. 26.
