Howie leads swimmers at Des Moines Lincoln

A first- and a second-place finish from sophomore Avery Howie paced the Boone swimmers to a 3rd place team finish at Des Moines Lincoln High School on Saturday, Sept. 28. 

Boone scored 405 points and finished behind Cedar Rapids Washington with 538 points and Des Moines Lincoln had 474 points. 

Other teams present were Indianola, Des Moines East and Carroll. 

Howie was the first to the finish line in the 50 free in a time of 26.38. She also placed 2nd in the 100 back in 104.99. 

Other individuals who were top finishers in their event for Boone included Claire Enabnit 3rd in the 100 fly in 1:11:52 and 5th in the 200 free in 2:16.59; Brook Lile 4th in the 100 breast in 1:21.42 and 5th in the 200 IM in 2:37.37; Tessa Gute 7th in the 100 free in 1:05.82 and Dani Goudie 8th in the 500 free in 6:47.38. 

The 200 medley relay of Howie, Lile, Enabnit and Tessa Gute finished 3rd in 2:02.82; the 200 free relay of Tessa Gute, Lile, Sara Gute and Rachel Ungs finished 5th in 1:58.16; and the 400 free relay of Enabnit, Ungs, Howie and Avery Overland finished 4th in 4:17.45. 

Boone competes against Vinton-Shellsburg, Grinnell and Williamsburg tonight at Grinnell.
