Madrid girls win Ogden cross country meet

Three runners placed in the top 10 for the Madrid girls’ cross country team as they scored 50 points to win the Ogden meet on Tuesday, Oct. 1. 

All three Boone County schools had their boys’ and girls’ teams travel to Don Williams golf course to compete. 

Boone finished 4th with 110 points, and Ogden finished 7th with 166 points. 

The Tigers were led by Katelyn Brandhorst who finished 3rd in 19:30.18. 

Madelyn Grothus was 4th in 19:32.61, and Hannah Brandhorst ended 8th in 19:56.72 

Mila Grothus finished 18th in 22:05.43, and Adelyn White finished 19th in 22:13.93 

Thomas finishes 10th for Boone 

The top Toreador at the meet was Emmalyn Thomas who finished 10th in 20:32.77. 

Morgan Chesnut was 17th in 22:04.14, and Bry Morgan finished 22nd in 22:36.58. 

Lynneah Pickering finished 23rd in 22:51.25, Poppy Malone ended 43rd in 24:53.51. 

Lass runs to 15th place for Ogden 

For the Bulldogs, Samantha Lass finished 15th in 21:36.97. 

Addison Trusler ended 20th in 22:18.56, McKenzie Spencer was 27th in 23:11.49 

Rounding out the scoring for Ogden, Elyse Fisher finished 58th in 26:28.26, and Brylie Hicks was 61st in 27:23.91. 

Teams competing at Don Williams were Ogden, Ankeny Christian, Collins-Maxwell, Woodward-Granger, Boone, Grand View Christian, Madrid, Pleasantville, Panorama and Central Decatur. 

Madrid will travel to Jewell to compete in South Hamilton’s meet on Thursday, Oct. 10. 

The Boone girls have their next meet Thursday, Oct. 3, at Perry. 

Ogden competes next on Thursday, Oct. 10 at Boone.
