The Boone football team faced North Polk, rated No. 1 in RPI, and lost, 48-7, at Alleman on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Comets got off to a hot start and scored 20 points in the 1st quarter followed by another 14 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-0 lead at the half.
North Polk kept rolling in the 3rd quarter with another touchdown. Boone was able to score 7 points in the 4th quarter, but so did North Polk. The game ended with the Comets on top, 48-7.
Jude Baumgardner went 6 for 14 with 4 passing yards and 1 touchdown.
Lucas Boucher had 2 receptions for 9 yards and caught Baumgardner’s touchdown pass.
Boucher also led the running game with 21 carries for 100 yards.
Additionally, Joshua Ingram had 3 carries for 28 yards, and Dylan Bolton ended with 2 carries for 9 yards.
For the Toreador defense, Tyson Shivers led the way with 8 tackles, including 5 solo tackles and 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack.
Ingram recorded 8 tackles, including 6 solo tackles, and Bolton had 5.5 tackles, including 5 solo tackles.
The loss drops Boone to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in Class 4A, District 5, play. North Polk improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the district.
Boone plays its final regular season game Friday, October 25. The Toreadors host Ballard (4-4) at 7 p.m.
