Boone tops Nodaway Valley at tournament

The Boone volleyball team participated in the Woodward-Granger Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 19, and topped Nodaway Valley, 21-10, 21-16.  

The Toreadors also lost to Woodward-Granger, 21-18, 12-21, 10-15; West Central Valley, 18-21, 21-23; and Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center, 13-21, 21-13, 9-15. 

In the victory against Nodaway Valley, Hayleigh Lingo recorded 4 kills and Jenna Johnson had 13 assists. 

Lingo and Madelyn Davidson had 2 blocks each, and Danielle Eshelman had 8 digs. 

Last week, the Toreadors fell to Adel-DeSoto Minburn, 6-25, 14-25, 8-25, on Tuesday, October 15. 

Against ADM, Emma Wiebold had 3 kills, and Johnson had 6 assists and went 6 for 6 from the serving line. 

Addie Tungesvik, Eshelman and Johnson had 8 digs each. 

On Thursday, October 17, Boone wrapped up conference play hosting Carroll but lost, 20-25, 25-27 and 15-25. 

Johnson had 20 assists, while Davidson had 8 kills. 

Tungesvik recorded 18 digs and served 10 for 12 with 3 aces. 

The Toreadors (7-23) travel to Webster City (15-11) to face the Lynx in the first round of the Class 4A Region 5 tournament on Tuesday, October 22.
