The Ogden football team picked up a crucial 44-14 district victory at Greenfield against Nodaway Valley Friday, October 25.
The win enabled the Bulldogs to qualify for the Class 2A playoffs.
Nodaway Valley began the game with a touchdown, and Ogden responded by scoring 2 touchdowns and the score was 16-6 at the end of the 1st quarter.
The Wolverines scored again in the 2nd quarter and the Bulldogs again responded with a touchdown, making the score 22-14 at the half.
The 3rd quarter was quiet with no teams scoring, but Ogden ran away in the 4th quarter, scoring 3 times and ending the game, 44-14.
CeJay Jones had a great night passing and was 21 for 45 for 445 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Jones also had 4 carries for 27 yards on the ground, while Cayden Dudley had 10 carries for 41 yards.
For the receiving corps, Weston Sundell had 8 receptions for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Tyler Lass pulled in 9 receptions for 191 yards and 1 touchdown.
Treyton Mitchell had 2 receptions for 27 yards and 1 touchdown, and Brayden Miller ended with 1 reception for 24 yards and 1 touchdown.
For the Bulldog defense, Carson Mueggenberg had 8 tackles, including 6 solo tackles., and 1 interception.
Additionally, Miller had 6.5 tackles including 6 solo tackles, and Ryder Eklund had 6 tackles including 5 solo tackles.
The loss dropped Nodaway Valley to 0-8 for the season.
The win brings Ogden to 2-6 overall. The Bulldogs’ 2-3 record in district play put them in 4th place, which advanced them to the playoffs.
Ogden will play at Dike-New Hartford on Friday, October 25, in the first round of playoffs.
