OGDEN, Iowa—Ronald “Ron” Trudo, 81, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on October 27, 2024 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.
A funeral service for Ron will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 31st at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa, with Reverand Max Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Maas Cemetery in rural Ogden. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 PM on Wednesday, October 30th at Zion Lutheran Church. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements. Ronald Lee Trudo, son of Lauren and Lila (Kloster) Trudo was born on June 24, 1943 in West Union, Iowa. Ron graduated from Postville High School with the class of 1961.
Ron graduated from Wayne State College in 1965. He was drafted by the United States Army in 1968 as a Sergeant E5, stationed in Germany. He received recognition for National Defense Service Medal for Marksman and Good Conduct Medal 1968-1970. He had the privilege of participating in a Freedom Flight to Washington D.C. in 2015. In 2018, he also received a Quilt of Valor recognizing his service.
On June 8, 1974, Ron was united in marriage to Linda Lee Muench at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. To this union, two children were born: Eric and Anne. His values of faith, hard work, and kindness continue to live on through his children and grandchildren. He worked as a teacher and coach in Omaha, Johnston, and Ogden; a banker in Lone Tree and Ogden; and a lab tech at ISU Vet Med.
Ron was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in fishing, refinishing furniture and woodwork, as well as supporting all things Bulldogs. Whether it was the Bulldogs here in Ogden or watching his son and grandsons’ Bulldogs in Van Meter, he was a proud supporter of their efforts and accomplishments. In addition, his latest Ogden Bulldog, granddaughter Kiyah, is carrying on the blue and white legacy.
He very much enjoyed his fishing trips with his relatives whether it was the big Leech Lake, MN trips or finding his favorite fishing pond near Ogden. Ron was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ogden Lions Club, as well as contributing to the Ogden community in many service activities.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Trudo of Ogden; his son, Eric (Shonna) Trudo of Van Meter; his daughter, Anne Trudo of Ogden; four grandchildren, Jack, Casey, and Cael Trudo; and Kiyah Savoy; his brothers, Jerry (Ruthie) Trudo of Cedar Rapids, Dennis (Susan) Trudo of Mineola, TX, his sister, Cheryl (Dave) Peters of Chaska, MN, as well as many other relatives.
