The Madrid girls’ cross country team were runners-up at the Class 1A State Cross Country Meet Saturday, November 2, at Fort Dodge.
Earlham won the team title with 91 points. Madrid was 2nd with 109 points, and Treynor was 3rd with 172 points.
The top 5 Tiger runners who scored team points all ran personal or season bests.
The top Tiger finisher was Katelyn Brandhorst, who finished 4th with a personal best of 19.01.2.
Madelyn Grothus finished right behind in 5th in 19.09.6, a season best.
Hannah Brandhorst finished 13th with a personal best of 19.28.2
Mila Grothus was 91st in 21.54, and Adelyn White was 95th in 21.57.
Both their times were season bests.
Ari Mundy and Ashlyn Burkhardt also ran at the state meet for Madrid.
Thomas competes in 3A race for Boone
Emma Thomas finished 58th in 20.13 at the Class 3A state cross country meet for Boone Friday, November 1, at Fort Dodge.
Thomas made her second appearance at state for the Toreadors.
