BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council voted 5-1 to extend open burning in the community until November 27th. Under the current ordinance, open burning during the fall ends on November 15th. Council Members supporting the extension noted the extended Burn Ban that was lifted county-wide last Friday by agreement of all the Fire Chiefs. Then it began to rain which prohibited some, but not all residents, from burning yard waste. Even though there’s an extension, the time frame and all the other requirements associated with open burning, remain in place.
