Hammer places 3rd at Central Iowa Varsity Kickoff

The Ogden girls wrestling team also sent 4 varsity wrestlers to the Central Iowa Varsity Kickoff on Saturday, November 23, in Nevada. 

Grace Hammer placed 3rd at 190 pounds, and Rylin Casey placed 8th at 100 pounds. 

Sydney King competed at 115 pounds, while Hannah Wells competed at 155 pounds. 

Hammer received byes in round 1 and round 2. She then won by fall in the quarterfinal round and lost by fall in the semifinal round. Hammer won by injury default over Kynnedy Gunderson of Iowa Falls-Alden and finished in 3rd place. 

Casey had a bye in round 1 and won by fall in round 2. She lost by fall in the quarterfinal but won by fall in the consolation round. She lost the 7th place match to Avery Williams of Clear Lake. 

King received a bye in round 1, lost by fall in round 2 and also lost by fall in her final consolation match to Laura Stohr of Algona. 

Wells got a bye in round 1, lost by fall in round 2 and also lost by fall in her final consolation match to Regan Jensen of Algona. 

More than 30 schools from across the state competed in Nevada. 

The Bulldogs have the week off for the Thanksgiving holiday and travel on Monday, December 2, to Manson-Northwest Webster for a meet.
