Bobby Duncan

BOONE, Iowa—Bobby E. Duncan, 64, of Boone, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Bobby was born May 25, 1960, in Boone, the son of Lester and Mary (Miller) Duncan. He attended school in Boone and Boxholm, graduating from Boxholm High School in 1978.

In 1980, Bobby joined the Iowa Army National Guard and served 26 years, retiring in 2006. Later in 2006, Bobby worked as the IT Administrator at the Boone County Courthouse and then in the IT Department of the Iowa Department of Transportation until his retirement in July of this year.

Bobby was united in marriage to Chris Boersma on September 29, 1990 in Boone. They were blessed with two daughters, Becca and Brooke. Bobby loved spending time with his girls and family.

Bobby and his family enjoyed to travel, they were members of the Disney Vacation Club, which allowed them to visit Disney World numerous times and take many Disney Cruises. He also enjoyed meeting all the people and had become friends to many throughout the United States, known as his cruise buddies. Bobby went on his last Disney cruise last month.

Bobby was a generous man and would do anything for anyone. He built their first home and first swimming pool, that he loved. Bobby enjoyed swimming, golfing, model trains, playing computer puzzle games, his pets and was looking forward to becoming a Grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Duncan; brother, Mike Duncan and brother-in-law, Bob Andersen.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 34 years, Chris Duncan; two daughters, Becca Duncan and Brooke (John) Antol; grandson due at any time, Anthony Eugene Antol; mother, Mary Duncan; sister, Peggy Andersen; sister-in-law, Melody Duncan; father and mother-in-law, Butch and Kathy Boersma; sister-in-law, Kelle Cook; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and very best friend, David Ulrick.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery with Military Honors by Iowa Army National Guard and Boone Veterans Council.
