The Madrid boys’ basketball team opened West Central conference play with a win against Panorama, 75-42, on Friday, December 6 at Panora.
The Tigers started with a 21-9 lead in the 1st quarter and were up 31-19 at the half.
Madrid exploded with 27 points in the 3rd quarter which put the score at 58-32, and they finished strong, winning 75-42.
Toryn Severson led with 24 points on 7 field goals, 3 3-pointers and 7 free throws.
Jevyn Severson had 15 points on 4 field goals and 7 free throws.
Brody Buck also added 15 points on 7 field goals and 1 3-pointer.
Toryn Severson had 5 assists.
Fabian Ortiz-Alaniz and Brody Buck each added 4 assists.
Jevyn Severson had 14 rebounds, 10 blocks and 1 steal.
Toryn Severson had 10 rebounds and 5 steals.
Emerson Bridgewater had 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 steals.
Tigers top Creston at home
On Thursday, December 5, Madrid played host to Creston and defeated the Panthers, 83-52.
Ortiz-Alaniz led the Tiger offense with 24 points on 9 field goals and 6 3-pointers and 6 assists.
For the Madrid defense, Jevyn Severson had 9 rebounds.
The Tigers are 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the West Central Conference.
They will host Pleasantville (1-1, 0-1) on Tuesday, December 10.
