Cadance Heggen finished 1st at 190 pounds for the Boone girls’ wrestling team as it competed at the Woodward-Granger Invite on Friday, December 6.
Heggen won by fall over Elyza Williamson of Osage and Alissa Kirch of Boone to take the championship.
Brooklynn Elliott finished 2nd at 170 pounds. She won by fall over Kyle Sulley and Addison Schenker of Osage before losing by fall in the 1st place match to Fernanda Ramirez of West Fork.
Poppy Malone also finished 2nd at 105 pounds. She won by fall over Ella Carico of Panorama and Amelia Faubus of Ballard and lost by fall to Kiersten McRoberts of Osage in the 1st place match.
Gracie Vodenik ended in 3rd place at 140 pounds. She won by fall over Emma Westfall of Boone then lost by fall to Kayle Havig of Osage and Josi Janssen of West Fork. She won by fall over Jessa Claussen of Woodward-Granger in her final match.
Alissa Kirch of Boone also finished 3rd at 190 pounds, losing by fall to Williamson and Heggen.
McKayla Silbaugh finished 4th at 130 pounds. She won by fall over Adyen Keefe of Osage before losing by major decision to Evelyn Faubus of Ballard. In the consolation semi-finals, she won by fall over Abigail Crawford of Woodward-Granger, and she lost by fall in the 3rd place match to Keefe.
In addition, Averie Strollo placed 7th at 120 pounds, Johanna Meeks placed 5th at 125 pounds, Abbie Molitor placed 7th at 135 pounds, Emma Westfall placed 5th at 140 pounds, Emersyn Zehner placed 6th at 145 pounds, Kira Majak placed 5th at 155 pounds, Grace Roney placed 8th at 155 pounds, and Claire Thompson placed 8th at 170 pounds. Paisley Lautner competed at 135 pounds.
Teams competing at the meet were Southeast Warren, Adair Casey-Guthrie Center, Boone, Earlham, Southwest Valley/Lenox/Bedford, Woodward-Granger, Ballard, Panaroma and West Fork.
