Boone boys fall at home against Gilbert

The Boone boys lost to Gilbert, 89-68, in Raccoon River Conference play on Friday, December 13, in Boone. 

Boone had the lead after the 1st quarter, 20-11. The Tigers came roaring back scoring 28 points in the 2nd quarter to go up 39-29 at the half. 

Gilbert continued to score well in the 3rd quarter and were up 66-49. The final score was 89-68. 

Wes Van Pelt was the top scorer for the Toreadors, scoring 19 points on 6 field goals, 5 3-pointers and 2 free throws. 

Braden Brooks scored 13 points on 4 field goals, 2 3-pointers and 3 free throws, and Tyson Shivers scored 11 points on 5 field goals and 1 free throw. 

Reid Carr, Devin Silbaugh, Shivers and Brooks all had 2 assists each. 

For the Boone defense, Shivers had 12 rebounds, 1 block and 2 steals. 

Jude Baumgardner grabbed 8 rebounds and had 1 block, while Brooks had 6 rebounds and 1 steal. 

The Toreadors host Carroll (1-1, 1-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, in Boone.
