Madrid girls lose at Woodward-Granger

The Madrid girls’ basketball team lost to Woodward-Granger, 78-42, Friday, December 13, at Woodward in West Central Conference play. 

The Tigers were down, 14-10, after the 1st quarter and 31-21 at the half. 

The Hawks took off in the 3rd quarter scoring 30 points and ending the quarter ahead, 61-35. The game ended, 78-42. 

Samantha Springer led Madrid with 15 points and scored all her points on 3-pointers. 

Laura Eagleton followed with 11 points on 4 field goals and 3 3-pointers, and Lauren Dvorak had 7 points on 3 field goals and 1 free throw. 

Dvorak added 4 assists while Jillian Olmstead had 2. 

Dvorak led the defense with 9 rebounds and 1 steal, and Olmstead also had 9 rebounds and 1 block. 

The loss drops the Tigers to 2-4 and 0-3 in the conference. Woodward-Granger improved to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. 

Madrid travels to Van Meter to face the Bulldogs (0-2, 1-4,) at 6 p.m. tonight.
