The Boone girls’ basketball team lost to Winterset, 51-39, Friday, January 3, in Boone in conference play.
The Huskies took a 19-3 lead after the 1st quarter and led, 26-14, at the half.
The Toreadors were down, 37-22, at the end of the 3rd quarter and lost, 51-39.
Shannon Jenkins led Boone with 13 points on 4 field goals, 3 3-pointers and 2 free throws.
Macy Chesnut had 12 points on 3 3-pointers and 3 free throws.
Sydney Adams had 11 points on 4 field goals, 1 3-pointer and 2 free throws.
Addie Tungesvik had 3 assists and Jenkins and Ava Johnson had 2.
Avery Howie led the defense with 7 rebounds and 1 steal, and Jenkins added 4 rebounds.
The loss drops the Toreadors to 4-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference. Winterset improves to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Boone will host No. 13 Carlisle (5-2 overall, 4-1 conference) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, in Boone.
