The Madrid girls’ basketball team topped Ogden, 43-23, in conference play Friday, January 3, in Madrid.
Madrid took a 12-7 lead after the 1st quarter and increased it to 26-14 at the half.
The Tigers were up 41-18 at the end of the 3rd quarter and won the game, 43-23
Madrid was led by Laura Eagleton with 14 points on 6 field goals and 2 3-pointers.
Lauren Dvorak added 13 points on 6 field goals and 1 3-pointer while Samantha Springer added 7 points on 3 field goals and 1 3-pointer.
Springer and Audrey Brown added 5 assists each.
Eagleton had 12 rebounds and 5 steals while Jillian Olmsted had 9 rebounds and 1 steal. Dvorak had 7 rebounds, 1 block and 2 steals.
For the Bulldogs, Anna Wilson had 6 points on 2 field goals and 2 free throws.
Grace Christensen had 4 points and 1 assist while Sydney Craighton had 3 points.
The Ogden defense was led by Anna Wilson with 8 rebounds. Sawyer Curry had 5 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal and Alena Wilson had 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
Madrid improves to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference while Ogden drops to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Madrid will travel to Ankeny to play Ankeny Christian Academy (5-1) at 6 tonight.
Ogden will host Van Meter (3-4 overall, 2-2 conference) at 7:30 Tuesday, January 7.
