Boone girls beat Indianola in dual tourney

The Boone girls wrestling team participated in a dual tournament Thursday, January 9, in Nevada. 

The team lost to Southeast Polk in the first round, 60-24, and moved to the consolation bracket where they faced Indianola. 

The team beat Indianola, 36-27, and moved on to face West Marshall where the Trojans defeated the Toreadors, 47-30. 

Two individuals won 2 matches for Boone. 

At 105 pounds, Poppy Malone pinned Nataile Nichols of Southeast Polk in 3:43 and pinned Arieah Popp of West Marshall in 1:11. 

At 135 pounds, Gracie Vodenik pinned Andrea Taylor of Indianola in 1:51 and pinned Madelyn Thompson of West Marshall in 4:24. 

Three individuals won 1 match for Boone. 

At 115 pounds, Johanna Meeks pinned Sophia Beebe of West Marshall in 1:40. 

At 140 pounds, Emersyn Zehner pinned Carlyn Lundberg of Indianola in 1:28. 

At 155 pounds, Kira Majak pinned Teryn Vanderbeek of Southeast Polk in 5:25. 

Boone will be one of 26 teams at a large tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 11, in Ogden.
