The Boone boys’ basketball team was able to play with Class 3A No. 5 Adel-DeSoto-Minburn for the first half; however, the Tigers had a strong 2nd half and beat the Toreadors, 77-59, Friday, January 10, at Adel in Raccoon River Conference play.
Boone led, 22-20, at the end of the 1st half and were only behind by 1, 36-35, at halftime.
ADM took control in the 2nd half and led, 59-46, at the end of the 3rd quarter and ended up winning, 77-59.
Braden Brooks led the Toreador offense with 18 points on 6 field goals, 2 3-pointers and 4 free throws.
Wes Van Pelt added 12 points on 4 field goals, 2 3-pointers and 2 free throws.
Jude Baumgardner had 11 points on 4 field goals and 3 3-pointers.
Brooks and Reid Carr had 3 assists each.
Tyson Shivers had 9 rebounds and 1 steal for the Boone defense while Devin Silbaugh had 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
Boone is 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the conference. ADM is 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
The Toreadors travel to Alleman to face North Polk at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 14.
