Boone swimmers win 2 events at Linn-Mar

The Boone boys’ swim team squared off against some of the biggest schools in the state and were able to come home with a couple champions at the Linn-Mar Invite in Marion Saturday, January 11. 

Isaac Clark and Carson Muggenberg went 1-2 in the 50 free with Clark finishing in 21.33 seconds and Muggenberg about a second behind in 22.30. 

The duo also was part of the 400 free relay which, along with Warren Williams and Simon Enabnit, placed 1st in 3:13.94. 

The same four also placed 2nd in the 200 free relay in 1:27.94. 

Williams and Muggenberg finished in 3rd and 4th place in the 100 free in 47.98 and 49.55, respectively. 

Clark also placed 4th in the 100 back in 53.74 while Williams was 4th in the 200 free in 1:47.50. 

The 200 medley relay of Cooper Jensen, Calvin Cook, Cooper Santi, and Carden Nerem finished 11th in 1:49.74. 

Other individuals competing at Marion included Chase Mueller, 19th in the 100 fly in 1:01.10 and 20th 200 IM, 2:22.76 and Calvin Cook, 18th in the 500 free in 5:38.78 and 21st in the 100 breast in 1:11.79. 

The Toreadors finished 7th out of 10 teams with 210 points. 

Waukee Northwest High School won the meet with 409 points.  

Schools present were Waukee Northwest, Iowa City West, Sioux City, Linn-Mar, Dowling Catholic, Pleasant Calley, Boone, Monona Grove, Williamsburg and Burlington.

Boone gets a break with no swim meets this week.  

Boone will host Spencer and Carroll at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 21 for Senior Night.
