King places 6th at Ogden tournament

The Ogden girls’ wrestling team hosted 27 teams for a tournament Saturday, January 11, in Ogden. 

Osage won the tournament with 231.5 points. Ogden finished 22nd with 18 points. 

Sydney King placed 6th at 115 pounds for the Bulldogs. 

King pinned Stell Cupples of Newton in 1:26, Isabella Smith of Pella in 3:20 and Ivy Christensen of Osage in :55 in the first rounds. 

In her consolation semifinal, King was pinned by Cate Erickson of Perry in 3:19, and in the 5th place match, she was pinned by Eden Ferrusca of Ridge View in 1:07. 

Grace Hammer placed 8th at 190 pounds for Ogden. 

Hammer won by forfeit before getting pinned by Ioleta Kingbird of South Tama County in 1:45. 

In the consolation rounds, Hammer pinned Aspen Kramer of Pella in : 23 and was pinned by Cadence Heggen of Boone in 1:20. 

In the 7th place match, Hammer was pinned by Kennedy Robinson of Humbolt in 1:03. 

Others competing at the tournament for the Bulldogs include Rylin Casey at 100 pounds, Carlie Hinderaker at 120 pounds, Sophie Seligman at 125 pounds, Tori Alexander at 135 pounds, Hannah Wells at 145 pounds and Makayla Alexander at 170 pounds. 

Ogden travels to Emmetsburg for duals against Manson-Northwest Webster, South Central Calhoun and Emmetsburg at 6 p.m. tonight.
