The Boone boys’ wrestling team participated in the J-Hawk Invite Saturday, January 18, at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids.
Joseph Pestotnik placed 2nd at 175 pounds.
Pestotnik received a first-round bye before winning by technical fall over Mason Tilley of Iowa City High, 16-1.
In the semifinal round, he pinned Abe Parker of Waukee Northwest in 3:43.
In the 1st place match, Pestotnik lost by major decision, 15-2, over Shayden Washburn of Alburnett.
Trent Eckard placed 4th at 150 pounds.
Eckard also received a first-round bye and then lost by sudden victory to Seth Reiland of Muscatine, 9-6.
In the consolation rounds, he won by technical fall over Tyrone Parrow of Waterloo East, 25-4, and pinned Hunter Richardson of Fort Dodge in 4:37.
Then Eckard pinned Laith Alawneh of Iowa City High in 3:54 before losing by decision in the 3rd place match to Reiland, 12-10.
Additionally, Ashten Peterson competed at 144 pounds and Mason Oostenink competed at 120 pounds.
Peterson was pinned by Aiden Frascht of Forest City in 1:21 and was pinned by Camden Bennett of Davenport North in 1:28
Oostenink lost by technical fall to Owen Henriksen of Alburnett, 21-6, and lost by technical fall to Nickolus McCrea of Bondurant-Farrar, 27-9.
The Toreadors will travel to Winterset to compete against Winterset, North Polk and West Des Moines Valley at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 23.
