Fabian Ortiz-Alaniz became the 3rd senior this season to top the 1,000-point mark for Class 1A, No. 2, Madrid as the Tigers beat West Central Conference rival Woodward-Granger, 82-52, Tuesday, January 21, at Madrid.
Madrid established a 13-10 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and increased that lead to 39-15 at the half.
The Tigers were up by 20 points at the end of the 3rd quarter, 52-32, and ended up winning by 30, 82-52.
Ortiz-Alaniz scored 19 points on 7 field goals, 3 3-pointers and a pair of free throws.
Toryn Severson led the scoring with 26 points on 9 field goals, 3 3-pointers and 5 free throws.
Jevyn Severson added 16 points on 7 field goals and 2 free throws.
Brody Buck, Emerson Bridgewater and Toryn Severson had 3 assists each.
For the defense, Jevyn Severson had 9 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.
Toryn Severson grabbed 6 rebounds and 3 steals and Bridgewater had 5 rebounds and 1 steal.
Madrid remains unbeaten on the season with a 14-0 overall record and a 9-0 conference record.
Woodward-Granger fell to 5-10 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
The Tigers face West Central Valley (4-12 overall, 2-8 conference) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 24 in Stuart.
The Tigers beat the Wildcats, 100-26, last month.
