Hammer places 2nd at Colfax-Mingo Tourney

Grace Hammer placed 2nd in her weight class for the Ogden girls’ wrestling team at Colfax-Mingo Saturday, January 25. 

Hammer pinned Kiera Jackson of Chariton in :10 before pinning Tatum Tharp of Ames in :22 in the quarterfinals. 

In the semifinals, she won by injury default over Ashlyn Van Manen of Newton before getting pinned by Cadence Heggen of Boone in 3:25 in the 1st place match at 190 pounds. 

Trinity Stoneburner placed 4th at 105 pounds. 

She received two byes before getting pinned by Katie Biscoglia of Raccoon River-Northwest in 1:28. 

Stoneburner received a bye in the consolation round before getting pinned by Poppy Malone of Boone in :57. 

Sophie Seligman placed 5th at 125 pounds. 

She received a bye before getting pinned by Syler Holt of Iowa Valley (Marengo) in 1:10. 

Seligman received another bye before losing to Bri Shannon of Pella be technical fall, 19-3. 

In the 5th place match, she beat Reagen Folkers of Ankeny by decision, 11-6. 

Rylin Casey placed 6h at 100 pounds. 

She received a bye before losing by technical fall to Cassidy McCallister of Raccoon River-Northwest, 19-2. 

In the consolation rounds, Casey received another bye before winning by disqualification over Elyssa Graber of WACO. 

She was beat by decision by Greta Goodman of Ames, 10-3, and lost to Lola Voth of Chariton, 8-3, in the 5th place match. 

Makayla Alexander also competed at 170. 

Ogden got 13th place with 58 points as Raccoon River-Northwest won the meet with 305.5 points.

The Bulldogs return to Colfax for the regional meet at 4 p.m. Friday, January 31.
