Three Toreadors place at Ed Winter Invitational

Boone boys wrestling team had 3 wrestlers place at the Ed Winter Invitational Saturday, January, 25, in Urbandale. 

Joseph Pestotnik placed 5th at 175 pounds. 

In the first round, he won by technical fall over Nolan Parrish of Dallas Center-Grimes, 15-0, before winning by decision over Abe Parker of Waukee Northwest, 7-5. 

In the semifinals, he was pinned by Lincoln Jipp of Bettendorf in 4:22 before winning by decision over Jessie Egli of Fort Dodge, 5-1, in the consolation rounds. 

In the 5th place match, Pestotnik pinned Grant Touney of West Des Moines Dowling Catholic in 2:37. 

Ajay Braddock placed 6th at 126 pounds. 

In the first round, he won by technical fall over Colin Royster of Bettendorf, 19-3, before beating Blake Forrester of Dallas Center-Grimes by major decision, 13-3. 

In the semifinal, Braddock lost by decision to Christian Castillo of Ames, 19-4, before losing to Kyle Simons of West Des Moines Dowling Catholic by decision, 2-0 in the consolation round. 

In the 5th place match, Braddock lost by medical forfeit to Forrester. 

Trent Eckard placed 7th at 150 pounds. 

In the first round, he won by technical fall over Cade Bland of Ankeny Centennial, 24-7, before losing by technical fall to Liam McLaughlin of Norwalk, 17-1. 

In the consolation rounds, Eckard lost by decision to Jake Dunn of Urbandale, 7-3, before winning in tie breaker over Elijah Dobbs of Waukee Northwest, 8-7. 

In the 7th place match, Eckard won by decision over Hunter Richardson of Fort Dodge, 18-14. 

The Toreadors will travel to the Raccoon River Conference meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn.
