Issac Clark set 2 new pool and conference records as the Boone boys’ swimming team won the North Central Swim Conference meet Saturday, February 1, at Boone.
Boone scored 543 points, which was more than 100 points better than 2nd–place Decorah with 432.
“We have been looking forward to this meet for a year and talking about it all season,” said head coach Chris Mann. “It was so much fun to watch them all come together and swim a meet like that.”
Clark set records in the 50 free and 100 back, and he was part of the 200 and 400 free relays, which also set pool and conference records.
His time in the 50 free was 20.95, and his time in the 100 back was 54.20.
The 200 free relay of Carson Muggenberg, Clark, Simon Enabnit and Warren Williams finished in 1:27.08, and the same 4 swam the 400 free in 3:16.55.
Muggenberg finished 2nd to Clark in the 50 free in 22.00, and Cooper Santi finished 2nd to Clark in the 100 back in 58.10.
Boone also finished 1-2 in the 100 free with Muggenberg 1st in 48.34 and Williams 2nd in 48.40 and in the 500 free with Enabnit 1st in 5:24.40 and Cooper Jensen 2nd in 5:33.91.
Enabnit rounded up the championships with a 1st place finish in the 200 IM in 2:09.65 with Chase Mueller finishing 6th in 2:18.93.
The 200 medley of Jensen, Calvin Cook, Santi and Carden Nerem finished 3rd in 1:47.90.
Cook also finished 3rd in the 200 free in 2:02.18 with Nerem in 4th in 2:02.88.
Mueller finished 3rd in the 100 fly in 59.02, and Santi placed 6th in 59.87.
Finally, in the 100 breast, Cook finished 5th in 1:08.47, and Wes Schuler was 6th in 1:08.81.
“Our underclassmen also proved today what they are capable of and where they can take this team over the next couple of seasons,” Mann said.
The Toreadors will compete in the district meet at noon Saturday, February 8, at Ames.
West Des Moines Valley, Marshalltown, Ames, Newton, Boone, Oskaloosa, Indianola and Waterloo West are all in the district.
