BOONE, Iowa—The 2nd Annual Hibernation Celebration was held at the Ericson Public Library on Tuesday evening. The event provides those interested in updates on the winter activities of the Friends of the Ledges and also keeps those interested in what’s happening this winter at the Ledges. Park Manager Andy Bartlett let attendees know that a new seasonal naturalist will be joining the team this year. He also noted that campers might be inconvenienced a little early in the season when one of the two shower buildings will be removed and replaced.
Bartlett and ace bird watcher Karl Jungbluth led everyone on a virtual bird walk. Jungbluth presenting the top 10 birds found a bird feeders in the area and some of the top birds that can be seen at the Ledges during the winter time. Bartlett did a presentation on owls generally found in the area.
