The Boone boys’ basketball team won its final home game of the season as it beat Webster City, 81-61, Thursday, February 20.
The Toreadors opened the game strong and led 26-17 at the end of the 1st quarter and remained ahead, 44-31, at the half.
Boone ended the 3rd quarter up, 64-51, and won the game, 81-61.
Three seniors led the scoring for the Toreadors.
Wes Van Pelt had 24 points on 9 field goals and 6 3-pointers.
Tyson Shivers had 20 points on 9 field goals and 2 free throws.
Devin Silbaugh had 9 points and was 3 for 3 on field goals, 2 for 2 on 3-pointers and 1 for 3 on free throws.
Reid Carr had 5 assists, and Van Pelt and Shivers had 4 each.
Shivers had 9 rebounds and 2 steals while Jude Baumgardner had 9 rebounds and 1 steal.
Carr grabbed 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
The win improved Boone to 8-14 overall while Webster City fell to 7-14.
Boone will head to Newton (11-10) at 7 tonight for the first round of Class 3A, Substate 7, basketball tournament.
