BOONE, Iowa—Alvin “Al” Moffet, 89, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Westhaven Community in Boone.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Westhaven Community Chapel in Boone. Dave Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be prior to services starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at a later date, at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Alvin Wayne Moffet was born on December 2, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Lemuel and Hazel (Lewis) Moffet. He graduated with the Ottumwa High School class of 1954. Al furthered his education at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (1966-1968).
From 1956 to 1969, Al was married to Elizabeth Baxter. They were blessed with four children, Ginger, Pam, Randy, and Sally.
On January 3, 1972, Alvin was united in marriage to Kathleen Ann McClain in Boone, Iowa. They were blessed with a daughter, Jacquelyn. The couple resided in Boone where Al worked at Mid-States Steel Corporation for 15 years. Al was later employed as a custodian at Iowa State University in Ames until retiring.
Al was a former member of the Berean Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting coins and records.
In addition to his parents, Al is preceded in death by two daughters, Ginger Moffet and Pamela Turner, his grandchildren, Jason Huddleston and Courtney Moffet, one great-grandson, Neomyiah, two brothers, L. Edwin (Ellen) Moffet and Daniel R. (Ann) Moffet, and two brothers-in-law, Elton North and Kyle Ruther.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kathleen Ann Moffet; two daughters, Sally A. (Charlie Haberer) Moffet, and Jacquelyn Rose (Robert) Meunier; one son, Randy W. Moffet; seven grandchildren, Kellie Enderson, Jeffrey Turner, Jennifer (Moffet)
Meunier, Stephanie Goodwin, Allison Turner, Patrick Turner, Katy Meunier, eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara L. North and Eva Ruther; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
