BOONE, Iowa—Brian Lynn Kraft, 53, of Boone, formerly of Renwick and Humboldt, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA, on March 5, 2025. 12 years ago, doctors told him he only had months to be with us, but in true Brian fashion, he proved them wrong and lived his life to its absolute fullest!

Brian’s visitation will be held on Monday, March 10 at Grace Community Church, 625 Division Street, in Boone, IA, beginning at 3:00 PM with a Celebration of Life starting at 6:00 PM, with Pastor Tim Trudeau officiating. Inurnment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Renwick, IA at a later date.

Brian is survived by his wife of 31 years and high school sweetheart, Stacy. His children, Adam Kraft, Alyssa (Noah) Woolston with a granddaughter on the way, and Aidan (Emily) Kraft. His parents, Everett and LaVonne Kraft and siblings, Bruce (Jeri) Kraft, Susan (Shawn) Malekzadegan, and David (Lori) Kraft; father-in-law, Raymond Heim; sister-in-law, Rachel (John) Scholten; nephews, Nathan (Raphaella) Kraft and Matthew (Leah) Malekzadegan; nieces, Allison (Cory) Rigler, Clarissa Kraft (Brice Richter), Michelle (Trevor) Sidwell, and Samantha Kraft.

Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Dora Werling, Fred and Joyce Kraft, Ruth Kraft, and mother-in-law, Carolyn Heim.

Brian was born July 31, 1971 in Clarion, IA and grew up in Renwick, IA. He loved this small little “Mayberry” town where he made some of his closest friends who until his last day continued to be at his side. Brian’s school, Boone Valley, consolidated with Humboldt, where he met his love, Stacy, and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of ‘89. Brian then went on to Iowa Central Community College with a degree in Food Marketing. In 1993, he was united in marriage to Stacy Heim, in Humboldt. The couple moved to Boone in 1995 where he was employed by Hy-Vee. Brian graduated from Simpson College with a degree in Business Administration in 2004. From here he worked at GuideOne Insurance, EMC Insurance, and most recently, American Family Insurance as a Reinsurance Underwriter.

While he loved his job at American Family, there was one thing that Brian was the proudest of and loved the most in this world, and that was his children Adam, Alyssa, and Aidan. They were his “why,” his pride, his joy, and his strength. And through his children, he found new faith in our savior, Christ Jesus. Brian was only on this earth for a short time, but he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether it was singing karaoke (he did an awesome Stevie Wonder and Biz Markie, by the way), sharing conversations on the patio and in the garden, or even an occasional golf outing or round of disc golf, he always had time to spend with those he loved. He will be forever missed.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Brian’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
