BOONE, Iowa—Richard Charles Francis, 88, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1936, in Woolverton, Minnesota, the son of Richard and Wilma (Yoreman) Francis. On October 30, 1959, Richard married Connie Janes at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa.
Richard was an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Wilma Francis; sisters, Della Morrow and Kay Cross; and brother, Gerald Francis.
Richard is survived by his wife, Connie Francis; daughter, Lori (Dewey) Slack; son, Todd (Rojane) Francis; grandchildren: Ryan (Rachel) Francis, Anthony (Janna) Moyer, Alex (Tasha) Moyer, Lindsey (Ryan) Jackson, and Leah (Kyle) Crum; great-grandchildren: Noah, Teagan, Jaxon, Izzabell, Avigail, Braxtyn, Gracelyn, Lane, Barrett, Kayden, and Knox (arriving in June); as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
