BOONE, Iowa—Roberta E. Grabau, 82, of Boone, passed Saturday, March 15, 2025, at her home. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 21, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Phil Waldo officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone.

Roberta was born September 10, 1942, in Boone, the daughter of Earl M. and Vivian M. (Martin) Maynard. She attended school in Boone and graduated from Boone High School with the class of 1962.

Roberta was united in marriage to her soulmate, LaVerne William Grabau, on March 10, 1963, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. She was employed as a dietary aid at the Madrid Nursing Home, Bourns until they closed, then as a housekeeper at the Ledges Manor, before opening an in-home daycare that she retired from in 2001.

She enjoyed puzzles, cooking and especially family time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVerne in 2001; twin daughters in infancy; and brothers, Glen and Dale Maynard.

Roberta is survived by her three children, Rodney (Aleisha) Grabau of Iowa City, Melissa (Paul Ray) of Boone and Matthew (Peggy) Grabau of Ames; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Riley of Des Moines.
