Boone Community Theatre Announces New Season, New Board Members

KWBG 06/21/21

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Community Theatre Board of Directors recently elected members for the 2021-22 Season and approved a slate of shows for what they hope will be a refreshing return to live theatre.

New board members Janae Erickson and Chris Terrell joined the BCT Board beginning in June.  Officers for the new season are Brandon Windus, president; Jonathan Levi, vice president; Karen Kerr, secretary; and Lori Haynes, treasurer.  Continuing board members are Susan Herrick, Michele Jacobson, Christopher Levi, Keely Taylor, and Pamela Webster.

Slated shows for 2021 – 22 are “Treasure Island” by Ken Ludwig based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel.  Auditions are July 6 and 7 with performances in September.  December will bring “Little Women – A Merry Christmas” musical by JJ Nichols-Lewis, Melinda Field and Bob Marshall based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott.   The romantic Broadway musical “I Do! I Do!” by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones will hit the stage in February.  The season will conclude with an energetic production in April featuring BCT youth plus a few adults.  The show was canceled twice during Covid, so renewal of licensing is still in process, but the BCT Board hopes it will be a “MARVEL”ous inter-generational theatre experience for actors and audience members alike.

Season tickets will be available beginning in July through the website at boonecommunitytheatre.org or by calling the theatre at (515)303-0393 to make arrangements for pick up.

The Boone Community Theatre Board would like to give special thanks to the organizations and individuals who donated to the BCT Mobile Theatre Project this past year.  The Mobile Theatre Project features a cargo trailer outfitted with equipment to hold productions at outdoor and indoor venues throughout the Boone County area.  It enabled the theatre to more safely and easily stage “The Last of the Dragons” at Herman Park Pavilion in May and will help the group take shows to various parks, auditoriums and other venues in the future.

Contributions included a $5000 grant from the Boone County Community Endowment Fund, $2000 from The Leonard A Good Trust, $1000 from the Walmart Community Grant, $750 from the Pratt-Fenton Trust, $500 from Nevada Computer Center, $500 from Central Iowa Massage, $250 from VisionBank, and another $1000 from other businesses and individuals.
