Virginia “Jinny” Deering

KWBG 06/22/21

BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 95 year old Virginia “Jinny” Deering of Boone, Iowa.  She passed onto her heavenly home on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Westhaven Community with family by her side.

Jinny was born in Chicago, IL on October 22, 1925 and was the daughter of Leslie A. Lind Sr. and Ada L. (Read) Lind. On October 28, 1944, she married the love of her life, Robert P. Deering Sr., in Park Ridge, IL, where they lived and raised their two children, Lynn and Robert Jr.

Jinny and Bob moved to Fontana, WI in 1972 where they made their home until moving full time to Venice, FL. They loved to travel especially in their motor homes. In 1997, they decided to move to The Villages of Lady Lake, FL where they enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and singing in the “Village Voices.” Bob passed away in 2010 in The Villages after 66 years of marriage where Jinny remained active until making the decision to move to Boone in 2014 to be closer to family.

Jinny was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother (Leslie A. Lind Jr.); and her in-laws, August M. and Winifred E. Deering.

She is survived by her two children, Lynn (Michael) Newbold of Boone and Robert (Christine) Deering Jr. of Elkhorn, WI; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A private family graveside service and interment will be held at a later date in Linwood Park Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets. Online condolences may be left to Jinny’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
