Gislea Phelps

OGDEN, Iowa—Gislea “Gisy” Phelps, 72, of Oktaha, Oklahoma, formerly of Boone and Ogden, Iowa, passed away on May 26, 2022.  Funeral services for Gisy will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.  Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.  For online obituaries and condolences, please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

Gislea Ruth Thul was born on June 22, 1949, in Homburg, Germany.  She received her education in Germany. While in Germany, her son Loren was born.  Shortly after his birth, Gisy and Loren moved to the United States where they lived briefly in Chicago before moving to Grand Junction, Iowa.  Gisy worked for Sandler Built Homes in Boone, Iowa and later, Archway Cookies in Boone, where she worked for over 26 years until they closed.

On September 26, 2001, Gisy married Frank D. Phelps at Frog Pond Resort in Ogden, Iowa.  She then worked for Ogden High School in the kitchen until her retirement.  Gisy was most proud of becoming a United States Citizen on September 20, 2002, while being witnessed by Frank and close friends Dave and Sue Anthony and some of her Ogden High School students.

Survivors include her loving husband, Frank Phelps; son, Loren (Lynda) Holm and their two daughters, Haylee and Kayla of San Diego, CA; step son, Les (Jana) Phelps and their three children, Corey, Cody and Casey of Ogden, IA.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
