BOONE, Iowa—Carla Gifford, 64, of Boone and formerly of Pilot Mound, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Carla was born in Boone on February 1, 1960, the daughter of Jerry and Mary (Dutcher) Knight.
Carla was united in marriage to Rick Gifford in 1977. To this union two sons were born, Wayne “Wally” and Jerry “Beaver”.
Carla enjoyed lots of activities in life: watching her sons and grandson race, attending her boys’ and grandkids sporting events, watching NASCAR, looking for the next great find at garage sales, and checking in on Facebook.
Carla worked as a CNA and had several jobs over the years, Woodward State Hospital, Boone County Hospital, Madrid Home and Evangelical Free Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Rick on March 23, 2024; parents, Jerry and Mary Knight; sister, Rita Knight; in-laws, Wayne and Kay Gifford; and brother-in-law, Gary Casady.
Carla is survived by her two sons, Wayne (Samantha) Gifford and Jerry (Jess) Gifford all of Boone; five grandchildren, Braden and Braxton of Boone, Zack and Emily of North Carolina, and Macon of Boone; brother, Jeff (Jamie) Knight of Boone; sister-in-law, Dixie Casady of Boone; brother-in-law, Craig Gifford of Sioux City; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
