BOONE, Iowa—Nearly ideal weather conditions greeted the crowd that turned out Sunday for the dedication of the 33rd Habitat for Humanity Home built in Boone County. The partner family, Brett and Danielle Schmidt and their three daughters, Hunter, Mattilynn and Lucy will have a typical Habitat zero-interest mortgage. Affordable monthly payments will help provide the same opportunity for additional partner families in the future. Boone Mayor Elijah Stines congratulated the family but also recognized the core construction group that volunteers a couple of times a week. Habitat Executive Director Ron Christensen recognized the family and volunteers that helped complete the project and also Construction Project Manager Mark Appenzeller who presented the keys to the home to the Schmidt’s. Danielle Schmidt thanked everyone that helped including family members and friends and also thanked the Ericson Public Library where she met Nan Sloan from Habitat at a session about becoming a partner family with Habitat. Christensen says the group is working to put together the 34th home build for next year. He also says there are opportunities for “Helping Hands Projects” when Habitat volunteers assist homeowners with various improvement projects.

Danielle and Brett Schmidt received a present from friends for the new Schmidt home.
