42 Boone County 4-H Exhibits Selected for State Fair

BOONE, Iowa—One Hundred and eighty (180) 4-H & FFA members entered a total of six hundred twenty-two (622) static exhibits at the 2022 Boone County Fair on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

Eleven judges visited with 4-H & FFA members about their exhibits during conference judging. Members talked about their goals, steps they went through to create their exhibits, and what they learned. The judges shared comments and suggestions with each member as exhibits were evaluated. 4-H exhibits are judged to educate, encourage, and evaluate the youth about their project work.

4-H members who have completed fifth through twelfth grades are eligible to have exhibits selected for the Iowa State Fair on August 11-21. These exhibits were displayed in the southeast corner of the community building during the 2022 Boone County Fair.

4-H members whose exhibits were selected for state fair are:

Family and Consumer Sciences Department
Clothing, Sewing & Needle Arts: Lucy Read, Ames (Crocheted shorts); Erin Barnes, Boone (Vintage: Research and Restyle poster); Cianna Weddle, Ames (Flowery Sundress).

Food and Nutrition: Abigail Dies, Ames (Cinnamon apple hand pies); Tyler Osborn, Ames (Rolo Candy Chocolate Cookies); Whitney Chesnut, Boone (Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies); Cecilia Fulton, Ames (Eight Strand braided loaf and Chocolate-dipped pistachio Florentines);

Home Improvement: Case Curry, Pilot Mound (Wooden Nightstand); Morgan Chesnut, Boone (Interior Design Mood Board).

$10 Meal Challenge: Karsyn Brandhof, Boone (Poster).

Health: Hannah Chesnut, Boone (AthIEAT Poster).

Special Interest Department
Animals, Agriculture and Natural Resources: Abigail Dies, Ames (Wooden Sheep Photo Platform); Morgan Christensen, Madrid (Poster of Derechos effect on Iowa bird populations and poster on Egg Grading); Madelyn Grothus, Madrid (Chicken Nesting Box); Pearl Wagner, Ames (Wooden Sheep Feed Bunk); Macy Bristle, Ogden (poster on Barns).
