Posted on 18 January 2018 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—An early morning fire has destroyed a structure that had been converted into a duplex.  The converted commercial structure is located just north of US Highway 30, at “W” Avenue in eastern Boone County.  The address, the 2200 block of 229th Place is located in the Kelly Fire District and both Boone and Gilbert Fire Departments have been assisting with the call.

Boone Fire Chief Justin Adams says there were at least six residents and all had been located.  The structure is considered a total loss.  Both the Salvation Army and Red Cross are working with the displaced individuals to meet their immediate needs and temporary housing.  The Kelly Fire Department will be requesting assistance from the State Fire Marshall’s office to investigate the cause of the blaze.
