BOONE, Iowa—A planned project to upgrade amenities and infrastructure in the Ledges State Park campground is underway. The project includes upgrading the campsite electrical system from 30 to 50 amp service, extending the water and sewer systems to establish 15 full hook-up sites, and to widen the main roadway coming into the campground.
No definitive completion date can be given at this point as the project has only recently commenced. Park visitors are asked to keep out of the campground completely during the project.
Repairs to the Canyon Drive will also be underway soon. By late April or early May work should begin to stabilize the hillside failure and rebuild the road. It is anticipated that the Canyon Drive will reopen for vehicles in late summer or early fall of this year.
While overnight camping is not allowed and vehicle traffic is restricted, access will remain open to both shelters, the Lost Lake Trail, and many other parking lots. Visitors are welcome to continue to hike the trails, picnic and explore the park in areas not affected by construction projects.
