Boone Police Identify Man Killed Saturday

Posted on 23 April 2018 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Boone Police Chief John Wiebold Monday released the name of a man killed in an officer involved shooting.  Wiebold said the incident began with a 911 call about an active domestic abuse situation at 620 2nd Street in Boone.  The female caller told Boone County Communications that a male subject, later identified as  48-year old Timothy Wayne Anderson, was threatening her and another person with a knife.  Authorities released this portion of the 911 call.  In a prepared statement, Wiebold said officers attempted to enter the residence and Anderson charged them while still holding the knife.  He said video shows officers retreating and ordering Anderson to drop the knife.  He said multiple officers then fired their weapons striking Anderson.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  His body has been taken to the State Medical Examiners office in Ankeny and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Wiebold said the officers involved are currently on paid administrative leave per department policy, pending outcome of the investigation.  They were identified as Captain Lonnie Hikiji, Officer Daniel Lynch, Officer Joseph Slight, Officer Conner McCuen, Officer Cole Hilsabeck and Officer Seth McCrea.

Wiebold said the Boone Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are conducting the investigation and the results will be turned over to the Boone County Attorney’s office for review.

The Boone Police Department has released body cam video of the incident.
